Saturday at the Beach
I am very far behind in getting things posted and pictures loaded – being an adventure tour guide is time consuming.
Saturday morning we headed off toward Monterey with a weather forecast that predicted COLD and showers. We stopped at Moss Landing for a lunch of fish and chips with deep fried artichoke hearts and then headed straight to Salinas River Beach (also known as Sand Dollar Beach). Desirae was so excited about going to the beach that it did not matter what the weather was like. At least the weather gave us the beach all to ourselves (not many others would weather the cold, rain, sleet and eventual hail). Desirae had a wonderful time and was amazed at the water and waves. We collected shells and sand dollars and built our first sand castle (mine as well as hers).
We walked along the shore for a while, but when the hail came down hard, we decided it was time to retreat to the car and head toward the motel to get dry and warm. We also decided to buy Desirae a heavier jacket that was water proof in case we had to endure the weather again.
Desirae was very happy with the motel stay and the fact she had her own Queen bed. Nana and Desirae had their new jammies that Aunt Joy made for us and after we went out for a bite to eat we settled in for cartoons while Max did some homework. The weather indicated it would be warmer on Sunday and the showers would not arrive until the afternoon, so we all went to sleep hoping for a better day at the beach on Sunday.
Later . . .
