Wonderful Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend with the family.  The drive down was not bad – light traffic except when approaching Bakersfield (lots of 18 wheelers).  Devin’s birthday was a success and fun was had by all.  He had a THREE foot sub sandwich, which was really quite tasty.  He had a space themed party and the cake was excellent.  I must say I had forgotten just how much is required when raising children – nice to be Nana.  I saw a license plate frame that read “Grampa is the name and spoiling is the game”.  I can relate to that!

We made the long trip home with Desirae and she was an angel for such a long trip.  She was completely self-entertaining and only slept for the first part of the trip down to Bakersfield from Cal City.  We listened to music and that seemed to entertain everyone.  The dogs were as excited to see her as she was to see them.  We fixed her “bedroom” up (we forgot her sleeping bag and pillow so we had to improvise and she was very pleased with the results). She had a bath and was ready to go to bed at 8:00 PM.  She is really excited to be here alone and we are hoping that she does not become too home sick before we are ready to take her back for her birthday party on the 25th.  We plan to keep her busy, but she has already mentioned missing Mommy and Daddy.  Thankfully she loves both Max and I (not to mention the dogs) and likes to be here.

All is back to normal – Max is doing homework, the dogs are asleep at our feet and the fireplace is keeping us toasty.  We now have the addition of a little blonde, blue-eyed princess to add to the mix.

LIFE IS INDEED GOOD!

Later . . .
